Jumai Usamatu PhD(C) RSW MSW
Jumai is the clinical director/therapist, licensed to practice in Alberta, BC and Ontario. She is a culturally responsive mental health practitioner with over a decade of experience in counselling, social work, and community engagement. Jumai’s practice is grounded in a holistic, client-centered, and culturally attuned approach that integrates psychological theory, social justice, and practical intervention.
She also works with Alberta Justice to provide family support, guidance and assessments for parent planning either for couples in sepration and divorce or high conflict families. Her collaborative approach ensures each individual and family is connected to essential resources to assist them reach their goals. Jumai’s work reflects her belief that mental wellness, equity, and cultural responsiveness are vital to building resilient individuals and communities.
In session, Jumai uses strength-based and self-compassionate approaches to therapeutic interventions. She is passionate about serving a wide variety of population including children, adults, couples, families, seniors, and veterans. She assists you in creating a specialized treatment plan after an initial assessment and helps you move forward with approaches that fit your needs.
Education: Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology – National University
Master of Social Work – Wilfrid Laurier University
Speciality: Complex trauma, personality disorder, mood disorder, relationship problems, esteem issues, anger management, ADHD, bipolar, life transition, racial identity, OCD, separation and divorce.
